President Obama Announces $3.4 Billion to Spur Smart Electric Grids
In order to build a "clean energy superhighway," DOE is
awarding $3.4 billion in Recovery Act funds to 100 projects
that are designed to move the nation toward a more efficient
electric grid. The new smart grid projects will take place in
every state except Alaska.

To foster advanced energy efficiency technological
innovation, DOE has funded 37 projects through the
Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, or ARPA-E. The
funds are meant to support high-risk, high-reward energy
research.

EPA Names the Top 20 Green-Powered Schools
The greenest schools in the K-12 grades got high marks from
the EPA for being the best in class in their purchase or use of
electricity from renewable energy sources. The top five
school leaders in green power hailed from Texas, New York,

California Expands its Rules for Feed-In Tariffs and Net Metering
A new California law will allow utility customers to sell back
the power from renewable energy systems as large as 3
megawatts in capacity, while a separate law will allow
customers using net metering to sell their excess power
