Alex Lekov is a Research Associate Supervisor II at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California. He is a licensed professional mechanical engineer in the state of California and holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic University at Prague, Czech Republic.

Alex has been a member of the Energy Efficiency Standards Group at LBNL since 1997. His professional focus is on engineering analysis, market and technology assessment, building energy analysis tools, and advanced information technologies. His major projects have been Efficiency Standards for Residential Water Heaters and Central Air Conditioners. Alex is currently an LBNL project manager for the Department of Energy's Residential Furnace and Boilers Efficiency Standards project.

Before joining LBNL, Alex did research work on solar energy at National Renewable Energy Laboratory (Golden, CO) and was a mechanical engineer/energy analyst at XENERGY Inc. and Berkeley Solar Group. He is an active ASHRAE member and holds Certified Energy Manager (Association of Energy Engineers) certification. He is the author of more than fifty technical articles and reports on energy conservation technology, solar energy, and appliance standards and holds six patents in these areas.
